Sacramento Municipal Utility District has determined a potential generic problem concerning various Anchor Valves at Rancho Seco.

bolt-ing material designated :\\ 19 3-B6-(416) may not be compatible with the valve components and an actica may take place that may lead to the stod failure.

A testing program is being initiated to resolve the exact cause of the failure.

This preliminary report is being transmitted to you as required by NRC Regulatory Guide 1.16 Section 2.a(9).

A complete report ' sill be submitted to your office within 14 days.
