In the letter dated December 20, 1978 on the embed assenblies for the A. W. Vogtle Nuclear Plant - Units 1 and 2, Georgia Power Company indicated the final report would be submitted by March 1, 1979.
Due to the complexity of the issue, Georgia Power Company was unable to complete its evaluation by this date and the finel report will be sub-mitted by June 1, 1979.
It is the purpose of this interim report to advise the NRC of the developments since Deccerber 10, 1978.
As a result of a continuous upgrading of our QA Program for the A. W. Vogtle Nuclear Plant - Units 1 and 2, Georgia Power Company reorganized its site QC organization based on studies initiated in August 1978. Under this new organization the site Quality Control Department reports directly to the Project Construction Manager.
This reorganization will significantly improve the field's QC surveillance of our construction work which will help to mitigate the occurrences of situations outlined in the attached report.
