Dear Ar. Whitmer:
We have completed our review of your submittals dated October 19, November 21, and December 20, 1979, which provided your comitments and schedule for implementation of the TMI-2 Lessons Learned Task Force Reconmendations for Edwin I. Hatch Unit No.1.
We have detemined from our review and in discussions with your staff that you have committed to implement each Category A requirement (excluding requirement 2.1.7.a) prior to plant operation after December 31, 1979.
I take this occasion n acknowledge, personally, your responsiveness to our requests.
Although you have comitted to complete each item on schedule, I recognize that unforeseen circumstances may arise, such as equipment delays that may dictate that you revise your stated position.
Should such an occasion arise, we request that you notify us promptly, within 48 tours, o',' the c.ecumstances involved and any change to your present commitment.
As stated in my letter of October 30, 1979, the NRC will be performing a post-implementation review of your method of implem_ acing each requirement.
You should submit for our review by the required completion date, appropriate documentation of your actions.
Category B lessons learned requirements, those scheduled for implementation by January 1,1981, will be the subject of future correspondence.
