Gentlemen:
Tnank you for your letter of October 11, 1980, in response to our letter
dated Sectemcer 3,1980, regarding three accarent items of ncncompliance
and three significant weaknesses identified during tne health physics
acpraisal conducted May 5-16, 1980. We have no further questiens regarding
tne responses to the items of noncompliance and will review your corrective
actions for these items during a future inspection. We also have no addi-
tional questions regarcing two significant aporaisal findings, icentified
as items A and 3 in Apoendix A, "Significant Acoraisal Findings *, to our
letter referenced acove. Mcwever, as a result of our review of your
response to item C of Accendix A we find that additional informaticn is
needed.
Scecifically, the Appraisal Team considered your cersonnel contamination
monitoring practices at the reactor building airlock to be less than
adequate.
Your corrective action response to this finding croposes use
of a new monitor by Octcber 1,1981, and does not address interim measures
wnicn could be implemented relatively rapidly, sucn as use of the existing
frisker ::y personnel during the evaluation period for the crocosed menitor,
or alternate action to be taken in the event tnat this monitor is found
to be either not available or unsatisfactory for use.
You are requested to re-evaluate and describe tne action you will take to
correct this accarent weakness in your health pnysics program.
