McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-369, -370

Dear Mr. Denton:

As requested by your letter of February 12, 1980 which discussed deficiencies in the rod drop analysis for McGuire Nuclear Station, the following coc:mit-ment is made to enhance protection against dropped control rod events. These commitments may be modified pending Westinghouse's review of this subject.

In the manual mode of reactor control from 0 to 100% reactor power there will be no change in current McGuire operating procedures. In automatic mode of reactor control from 0 to 90% reactor power there will be no change from current McGuire operating procedures. In the automatic mode of reactor con-trol from greater than 90% reactor power control rod Bank D must be withdrawn greater than or equal to 215 steps. These restrictions will be incorporated into station operating procedures and Technical Specifications as appropriate.

Very truly yours, ,
