Suoject: Jersey Central Power & Light Company Progress Eeport of Ecological Studies at tne Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station, April - August 1979 Cn June 6, 1979, JCP&k was issued the Environmental Technical Specifications (ETS) for tne Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station.
Section 3.1 of tnose ETS requires tne subnission of reports en various non-radiological mcnitoring studies including comercial fisneries, impingement, entrainment, water quality and fisn Kills.
Tne results of tneso
.c nitoring programs are, according t c Section 3.1 of tne Tecnnical Specif1.ations, to be sucmitted in Fecruary of eacn year.
hn11e tnese results are to cover 12 months of sampling (tne period of September 1 tnrough August 31 of tne following year) with 4 montns for data analysis (Septe::cer 1 tnrougn Cecember 31), tnis initial report only covers cata f rom April 1 througn August 31, 1979.
Tnis is in part tne result of tne late effective date of tne ETS are in part the result of a cnange in contractors cy JCP&L frcm Icnthyological Associates (IA) to Ecological Analysists (EA) to perform the required surveys. However, it snould be noted tnat the field data developed by IA for tne period of September 1,1978 througn March 31, 1979 was previously sutraitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Comission.
Knile this report is being sutraitted in response to the requirements of Section 3.1 of the ETS, it is only a progress report.
Next year's re p rt, whien will be submitted in Fe' ruary 1981, will include detailed statistical analyses o
of not only the normal sample period (September 1, 1979 tnrough August 31, 1980), but also tne sample period contained in this procress report ( April 1, 1979 througn August 31, 1979).
