SUBJECT:

TASK ASSIGNMENT As you are aware, the Final GEIS on uranium milling is now being prepared under.the direction of D. Martin, the GEIS Project Manager.

Substantial technical issues and public comments in the general area of environmental monitoring require resolution as part of this effort.

With respect to the preparation of the Final GEIS you are assigned the following responsibilities:

1.

Provide responses to all substantive public comments on environmental monitoring, as provided by D. Martin.

2.

Develop provisional environmental monitoring requirements for adequately demonstrating compliance with:

a) site cleanup criteria as stipulated in the WMUR branch position; and b) the reclamation performance objectives and technical criteria contained in the Draft GEIS.

3.

Develop provisional long-term environmental monitoring requirements for adequately demonstrating compliance with applicable reclamation criteria, together with estimated costs (analyses) and man-hours (sample collection, other on-site inspection and survey efforts).

Typewritten first drafts of all above assigned efforts are to be prepared and submitted for review by the GEIS Project Manager 6 later than March 21, 1980. This date is not negotiable.
