Docket No. 50-333

Power Authority of the State of New York

James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant

ATTN: Mr. J. D. Leonard

Resident Manager

P. O. Box 41

Lycoming, New York 13093

Gentlemen:

Subject:

Inspection 50-333/79-16

This refers to your letter dated December 1,1979, in response to our letter

dated November 9,1979. During an inspection conducted on December 13,1979(50-

333/79-17) this response was discussed between Mr. C. Cowgill of our office and

Mr. V. Childs of your office.

Thank you for informing us of the corrective and preventive actions documented

in your letter.

We have the following comments b ad upon the aforementioned discussion:

1.

Response to item A.

Two apparent errors exist in one sentence in your

response to this item.

It is our understanding that the second sentence of

this response should read as follows;

"Most of the personnel in question had just completed their initial liceri-

sing training in June and had received their licenses in July 1978."

2.

Response to item B. Reexamination of the log sheets in question identified

the fact that two sheets numbered 79-180 existed and one of those sheets

contained the errors noted by the inspector.

These errors were subsequently

corrected.

If our understanding is incorrect, please contact us promptly.

We will complete the examinations of your actions during a subsequent inspection

of your licensed program.
