NRC STAFF MOTION TO EXTEND TIME j

TO FILE ANSWERS TO BOARD OUESTIONS A

In ALAB-537 (April 5, 1979) this Appeal Board ordered the Applicant and the NRC Staff to prepare answers to questions concerning Applicant's electrical grid and emergency power systems.

On April 12, 1979 we advised this Appeal Board that the Staff member who would prepare those answers was :;tationed at Three Mile Island.

We also stated that the Staff member was expected to return around May 1,1979 and that in that event we would be' uriable to present our answers to this Appeal Board's questions until June 15, 1979.

The Staff member returned as expected but was recalled to Three Mile Island for one week - May 7 through May 11, 1979.

As stated in cur April 12, 1979 letter, we will need forty-five (45) days to prepare cur answers.

This would extend the time to June 22, 1979.

Applicant's counsel does not object to this motion and, in fact, stated that an extension to June 22, 1979 would also be helpful to them.

The

]

Staff therefore requests this Appeal Board to delay until June 22, 1979 the time for filing Staff and Applicant answers to questions set out in ALAB-537.

Intervenors' counsel has authorized me to say he does not object to this motion.

Respectfully submitted,

[
