Dear Mr. Seyfrit:
The Omaha Public Power District has received IE Bulletin 78-12 and Supplement 78-3PA, dated September 29, 1978, and November 24, 1978, respectively, regarding atypical veld material in Fort Calhoun Station reactor pressure vessel velds. The District;'s reactor vessel manu-facturer, Combustion Engineering, Inc. (CE), is currently engaged in performing a records search requested by the bulletins and has informed us that they plan to submit a generic report directly to the Commission, covering all reactor vessels manufactured by CE.
The D. strict vill re-ceive information from CE, certifying the applicability of the report to the Fort Calhoun Station reactor vessel and vill, in turn, reference this report in the final resp se to the subject bulletins.
Because of the large amount of data which must be retrieved and evaluated, CE is currently estimating that the generic report can be completed and submitted to the Commission by August 13, 1979 The Dis-tric'., expects that a response on the Fort Calhoun docket, referencing CE's generic report, can be provided by September 14, 1979, and is con-fident that this response vill resolve the Commission's concern relative to atypical veld material.
