AZZ NUCLEAR GROUP RESPONSE TO THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION INSPECTION REPORT NO. 99901471/2019-201 AND NOTICE OF NONCONFORMANCE
Dear Mr. Bolt:
Thank you for your September 26, 2019 letter in response to the Notice of Nonconformance (NON) that was discussed in the subject U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspection report (IR). We have reviewed your letter and found it to be responsive to the NON documented in IR 99901471/2019-201. We have no further questions or comments at this time and may review the implementation of your corrective actions during a future NRC staff inspection to determine whether full compliance has been achieved and maintained.
We have also reviewed your response to NON 99901471/2016-201-04, also included in your September 26, 2019 letter, which was kept open after concluding our most recent inspection, pending additional corrective actions. The corrective actions detailed in your response for verifying the interrupting ratings of certain equipment, as part of an overall commercial grade dedication process (including taking some credit for the UL certification process), seems to provide a reasonable approach, but its acceptability would depend upon specific implementation details. Further review of your corrective actions to the specific NON will occur during a future NRC staff inspection, at which time we will decide whether the original NON can be closed.
