Nuclear Projects Manager Boston Edison Company 800 Boylston Street Boston, Massachusetts 02199

Dear Mr. Butler:

SUBJECT:

RELEASE OF INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC - PILCRIM STATION -

l UNIT 2 i

By your letters, dated June 23, 1978 and June 30, 1978, you submitted financial schedules and forecasts relating to the Boston Edison Company and requested that they be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790.

4 In our letter of December 8,1978, we concluded that the information sought to be withheld from public disclosure does not meet the require-ments of 10 CFR 2.790.

We also stated that if you do not provide us with information which will establish a sufficient basis upon which to approve your application for withholding, the subject documents would be placed in the Public Document Room in not less than thirty days from the date of our letter.

i On January 16, 1978, Mr. E. A. Licitra of my staff discussed the above matter with Mr. W. Griffin of your office.

In that discussion, we were informed that you would neither make a further request for withholding of the subject financial information nor withdraw the information.

Therefore, with a copy of this letter, the financial schedules and fore-casts submitted with your letters, dated June 23, 1978 and June 30, 1978, will be made available for public viewing at the Cormission's Public Document Room located at 1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C.
