February 27, 1979 Mr. Robert W. Reid, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #4 Attn: Morton Fairchild Division of Operating Reactors Annual Operating Report for 1978 U.S. Nuclear Pegulatory Commission Docket No. 50-394 Washington, D.C. 20555 Facility License No. R-121

Dear Sir:

This letter is submitted in conformance with the reporting requirements of the -

Technical Specifications covering the status and startup of our AGN-201 training-type reactor.

As you know from my letter of September 22,1978 (c. to R. W. Reid) addressed to R. H. Engelken, Director for Region V, our Nuclear Reactor Facility was placed on inactive status during the first week of June,1978.

Our plans to convert the AGN-201 to a reactor simulator were explained to pu in my letter of November 29, 1978. On December 12, 1978, a Peter Ericson (from USNRC-Licensing?) advised me by telephone of certain aspects one would have to consider if we were to go this route, but he would send us the details on pro-cedure that some other school had followed in dismantling their reactor. To date we have received no further communication, but would very much appreciate some guidra 's as requested in my letter of November 29th.

Sincere.ly, sf f kYM W R. W. Adamson, Reactor Administrator Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department Encl.
