MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME Central Electric Power Cooperative requests leave to file its response no later than January 31, 1979 to South Carolina Electric & Gas Company's (SCE&G's) Motion to Dismiss, or in the Alternative, for Summary Disposition.

Central's request for an extension of time is not opposed by SCE&G.

Good cause exists for the extension of time to respond.

SCE&G's Motion was served by mail during the holiday season.

Further, counsel for Central Electric Power Cooperative, Mr.

Wallace Brand, has previous commitments to prepare for and to attend depositions in North Carolina in early January.

Mr. Brand will then leave the country for approximately ten days and is not scheduled to return to his of fice unt.il January 21, 1979. .

Lastly, in the interest of convenience and economy for all parties, as well as the Commission, it would be advisable for Central to respond to the Notions of SCE&G and Santec-Cooper 7 9 012 5 0.3hGdi

e at the same time. Cer. tral has previously agreed to extend Santee-Cooper's time for a response until January 15, 1979.

Santee-Cooper has no objection to Central's request to file its response to both Motions on or before January 31, 1979. .

Therefore, Central requests leave to tile its response to SCE&G's Motion and any motion filed by Santee-Cooper on or before January 15, 1979 until January 31, 1979.

Respectfully submitted, d[ba d e_ n kch Wallace E. Brand j/
