U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS TECHNICAL INFORMATION REQUEST ON U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGYS 2017 DRAFT GROUNDWATER COMPLIANCE ACTION PLAN: THE RIFLE, COLORADO, OLD PROCESSING SITE

Dear Ms. Jasso:

By letter dated September 21, 2017 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17268A155), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) submitted a Draft Groundwater Compliance Action Plan (GCAP) for the Old Rifle, Colorado, Processing Site to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff for review and concurrence.

The NRC staff has reviewed DOEs GCAP and determined that additional technical information is needed to complete staffs review. NRCs technical information request is provided in the enclosure. In addition to the technical information, several information requests are included in the enclosure to complete an environmental review for NRCs action as required by the National Environmental Policy Act.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
