This acknowledces your letter cated December 1,1980 in which you stated the corrective actions taken in regard to our flotice of Violation dated flovember 13, 1980. We have reviewed the procedures which are being implemented by the University relative to service activities at other hospitals on Oahu ana Hawaii ana we nave no further questions at this time.
Your comments as statea in your letter of Decenber 1,1980 have been reviewed in cecaii by the URC staff, and we have the following comments and evaluations.

y, (b) Since che e,yo n.njividual is a Radiation Safety Officer and a
" qualified expect" in radiological physics, we believe he also shares soma responsibility in this matter.
We would expect such an individual to tonstrate and utilize the best of radiation safety pr:ctices while working in outside medical facilities.
Indeed, we consider the de'ons tration of good radiation safety practices to be an imoortant part of such assignments.
(c) He understand tMt this individual's radiological physics service activities are to be under closer surveillance by the University Radiation Safety Officer in the future, to ensure compliance with the newly implemented University administrative control procedures and the llRC regulations.

The University has described correcti'le actions intended to prevent a recurrence.
Therefore, we are rescinding the infraction listed in our Notice of Violation to you datec Movember 13, 1980.
(e) Ue agree that the exoosure may nave been received at anot.her flRC licensee location; therefore, the matter of visitor control will be discussed durino our next routine inspection with those licensees who use radiological ohysics services under this orogram.
The results of your newly implemented administrative control procedures relating to improved monitoring capability and safety protection for your emolovees will be examined durina our next routine insoection.
