Dear Sir:

On February 5, 1979, a report was submitted under provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) concerning the Recirculation Spray Coolers. On February 9, 1979, an additional report was submitted in complianca with the require-ments of 10CFR21. This report provided additional infomation on the analysis of the Unit 2 Recirculation Spray Coolers for the hydraulic tran-sient which could occur as a result of starting the Recirculation Spray Pumps.

At this time a complete analysis of the structural capability of the-Unit 2 Recirculation Spray Coolers with regard to the Recirculation Spray Pump start-up transient is now in progress. The analysis is being per-fomed by the manufacturer of the coolers, Joseph Oat Corporation.

Upon completion of the analysis of the capabilities of the Unit 2 Recirculation Spray Coolers, we will infom you of the results. We will also infom you'of any corrective action which might be required to guarantee the operability of these coolers after they have experienced

'the aforementioned hydraulic transient.

This thirty day report as required under provisions of 10tfR50.55(e) should be considered an interim report on this matter.
