Dear Mr. Denton:
Additional information concerning seismic events near the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station on August 27 and October 27, 1978, has been requested by members of your Staff.
The following is forwarded for your use:
(1)
Data relative to the seismic events as recorded by the USGS strong motion accelerometer, and (2)
Extract from a USGS topographic map showing the locations of the strong motion acceleroneter and subject seismic events.
It should also be noted that a representative profile of the foundation beneath the strong motion acceleremeter is shown at Station 2 + 00 on Plate 11 (Seismic Line SLC-1A) in Appendix A of " Geologic and Seismic Report - Parr Hydroelectric Project - FPC Project No.1894" as submitted to the Federal Power Commission by South Carolina Electric & Gas Company.
If additional infor=ation becomes ecysary,wewillbehappytodiscuss the matter with the Staff.
