Dear Mr. Oplinger:
During the spring and early sunmer of 1976, the Institute for Resource Management (IRM) held a contract with the Bolivian Atomic Energy Comission to assist them with the transfer of a small (10 kW) research reactor from North Carolina State University (NCSU) to Bolivia. As part of that project, IRM transmitted to your office applications for export of the special nuclear materials (fuel, PuBe neutron source, ion chamber material) and for the reactor hardware.
In the meantime, the government of Bolivia has decided to cancel the project, and has so informed both IRM and NCSU.
Because of the cancellation, I see no need for you to retain your active files on this projact.
According to Ms. Elaine Hen &y, NRC had assigned the following identification numbers to the export applications:
XR-ll6, 5 0 5 6 5, S 3 59 Reactor SNM XSNM-960 70- 4 3 5 5,3-Wa SNM XSNM-970,, f o c 3 4 6, S 4/O c)
I trust that this letter provides all information which you may require at this time.
Sincerely, 6c?"
