Dear Ms. Thomas:
I am pleased to respond to your letter dated February 1,1979 to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission which was referred to me for reply.
In your letter you note your desire to be kept informed of all developments relating to the possibility of the use of the Barnwell Nuclear Fuel Plant as an Away-From Reactor storage facility for commercial-nuclear waste and request copies of a'l correspondence, transcripts of meetings and any other materials related to such use of the Barnwell facility.
Our initial survey has revealed that such documents do not exist at this time. Should any such documents be discovered or received in the future we win forward them to you. We note, however, with regard to your request for transcripts of meetings that the NRC Staff does not transcribe its meetings with applicants, but instead prepares written summaries of these meetings. If a meeting concerning the use of the Barnwell facility for commercial waste is scheduled, in addition to forwarding the summary of that meeting to you, we will ruake every effort to notify you in advance of the meeting so that you may attend as an observer.
