u Co==iscioner I!uclear Regulatcry Cc= ission Washingten, D. C. 20555 RE: Docket No. 70-1729

Dear Sir:

As' Authorized Representative of Environ =entalists, Inc., I hereby request that copies of all correspondence, transcripts of meetings, and any other materials related to discussion of the possibility that the Barnwell Nuclear Fuel Plant might be censidered as an Away-Frc= Reactor storage facility for ec==ercial. nuclear vaste be sent to me forthwith. We understand that there have b'een exchanges of information en the subject between me= bars of the U. S. Congress, the Senate, ard certain IGC officials. Furthermore, Mr. Jim Bishop of the Department of Energy has indicated that the Nuclear Regulatory Co==ission has been exploring the possibilit/ of using the Barnwell Nuclear Fuel Plant for the storage of spent nuclear fuel.

On advice of counsel, it is our contention that Environ =entalists, Inc.'s standing in two proceedings concerning the Barnvell Nuclear Fuel Plant

=andates that the organization be kept informed of all matters related to the' Plant. This organisatica is an accepted and qualified party to the IGC proceeding on the Barnwell Nuclear Fuel Receiving and Storage Station (Docket IIo. 70-1729), and has standing as an intervenor in the consolidated HIPA review and operating licence proceeding (Docket Ho. 50-332, NEPA, OL).

Please note that this organizatien vill continue to take an active role in the BFRSS Docket 70-1729 and ENFP Docket No. 50-332 proceedings.

Respectfully, Y
