Gentlemen:

This refers to the meeting on November 30, 1978, between

Messrs. R. F. Heishman, H. C. Phillips of this office and Mr. L. J.

Burke and others of your staff.

It also refers to a subsequent

F. J. Jablonski,

inspection, conducted by Messrs. P. A. Barrett,

G. F. Maxwell, J. H. Neisler, and H. S. Phillips of this office on

December 13, 14, 18, 19, and 20, 1978, of activities at your head-

quarters offices, in Chicago, Illinois, and at La Salle County

Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized by NRC Construction

Permits No. CPPR-99 and No. CPPR-100 and to the discussion of our

findings with Messrs. W. J. Shewski, G. F. Marcus, L. J. Burke, and

others of your staff at the conclusion of the inspections.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined

during the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted

of a selective examination of procedures and representative records,

observations, and i:.terviews with personnel.

Our inspectors also reviewed additional supporting information con-

~

cerning a previously identified apparent item of noncompliance

(373/78-02-07; 374/78-02-07) brought to your attention in our letters

dated May 31 and June 26, 1978. We have no further questions regarding

this matter, and the records of the nonco=pliance have been corrected.

No items of noncompliance with NRC requirements were identified

during the course of this inspection.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice,"

Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulaticns, a copy of this

letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the

NRC's Public Document Room, except as follows. If this report
