Orian Chemical Company General License (10 CFR 40.22)
NOTICE OF VIOLATION Based on the results of the NRC investigation conducted on November 2, 1979, certain activities appear to be in noncompliance with NRC regulations as as indicated below:
1.
10 CFR 40.22(b) exempts a general licensee from the requirements of 10 CFR 20.
No provisions for disposal of source material are provided except for transfer pursuant to 10 CFR 40.51.
Coatrary to this exemption, depleted uranium was being disposed of by burial and in the sanitary sewer system on November 2, 1979.
This is an infraction.
2.
10 CFR 40.61 requires each person who receives source material pursuant to a license issued pursuant to the regulations in this part to keep records of receipt, use and transfer.

Contrary to this requirement no records of receipt, use, or transfer were being maintained on November 2, 1979.
This is a deficiency.
