Enclosed is Certificate of Compliance No. 9125, Revision No. O, for the Model No. AL-M1 shipping package. This certificate incorporates the configuration-5 packaging for tritiated water in USA /9507/BLF (ERDA-AL).
This approval permits a maximum of 2500g of water sorbed in commercial clay. This is less than the 3000g limit contained in the DOE approval, however, the 2500g limit is consistent with the supporting document (Monsanto Research Corp., Mound Laboratory Report No. MLM-2447, September 30, 1977).
The U.S. Department of Energy has been registered as a user of this package under the provisions of 49 CFR 5173.393a.
This approval constitutes authority to use this package for shipment of radioactive material and for the package to be shipped in accordance with the provisions of 49 CFR 5173.393a.
