Phil Jerman of RO:I called at approximately 4:15 June 3, 1974 to inform us that New York State Atomic Energy Council personnel had surveyed General Atomic's Pawling, N.Y.

facility and found suspected plutonium e;p contamination in concrete that had been covered with paint. RO:I will 7J2 investigate these findings within the next few days to ascertain whether or not there is plutonium contamination present.

In the meantime RO:I has requested that we not delete the Pawling, N.Y. site from SNM-871 as they previously authorized.
