PIPING CRACKS IN DECAY HEAT SYSTEM SUCTION PIPING (B0 RATED WATER SYSTEMS)
During the past 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
, eleven additional welds in approximately 100 feet of piping from the Borated Water Storage Tank have been ultrasonically examined (UT).
Four of these welds had indications of small cracks in the heat affected zone of the piping. The exact size, location and extent of the indications are still under evaluation.
Additional portions of piping in systems containing stagnant borated water (reactor plant makeup, decay heat removal, and containment building spray) have been visually inspected by the licensee. Four additional locations of potential piping cracks have been identified.
The cracks will be analyzed by metallurgical examination at a later date.
Licensee efforts to identify the extent of the pipe cracking in borated water systems
