f REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INFORMATION NEEDED TO EVALUATE TOPIC VI-1, "0RGANIC MATERIALS AND POST ACCIDENT CHEMISTRY" The following information is necessary to complete our evaluation of this topic:
1.
Estimate the areas and thicknesses of the major protective coating systems inside containment, including aluminum and zine base paints, epoxy paints, acrylic lacquer, etc.
2.
Indicate whether these coating systems and their methods of application were qualified according to the recommendations of Regu.latory Guide 1.54.
3.
If not, describe the QA provisions which were used to assure proper application.
4.
For coatings not qualified with Regulatory Guide 1.54, describe the present condition of the coatings, including estimates of the amounts of flaking, peeling, cracking, bubbles, etc.
5.
Estimate the quantity of other miscellaneous coating materials (such as on snubbers) not qualified according to Regulatory Guide 1.54.
6.
Estimate the types and amounts of other organic materials such as electrical insulation inside containment.
7.
In addition to the information described above for organic coating systems, we will need the following information with respect to the related topic VI-5, " Combustible Gas Control":
Estimate the surface area and thickness of aluminum, zinc and galvanized steel inside containment.
We have reviewed the information available in the docket files for
,some of the SEP plants and found that the information described above was not available.
Since this topic is a fairly recent addition to the review areas for CP's and OL's, we do not expect to find the information in any of the SEP plant docket material.
Accordingly, you are requested to provide the information described above.
