Dear Mr. Saltzman:

This is in reply to your letter of May 1, 1979, submitting Amendment No.

11 to Indemnity Agreement No. D-9 between the National Bureau or Standards and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for our review and acce ance.

The amendment gives effect to the recent increase from $140 m nlion to

$160 million in available nuclear energy liability insurance and reflects the recent amendment to 10 CFR Part 140, " Financial Protection Requirements and Indemnity Agreements," published by the Commission.

Pursuant to your request, Indemnity Agreement No. D-9, dated January 3, 1966, as amended by Amendment No. 11 thereto and effective as of May 1, 1979, has been reviewed and is accepted by the National Bureau of Standards.

A signed copy of the Amendment is enclosed.

Department of Commerce and the Atomic Energy Comr.ission, dated January 3, 1966, as amended, is hereby further amended as follows:

Article II, Paragraph 6, is amended by deleting the amount

"$140,000,000" and substituting therefor the amount "$160,000,000."
