LER CONTINUATION -- RO #1-77-97 Facility: BSEP Unit #1 Event Date 11-5-7:

C&use

Description:

electrical contacts were exposed to a water leak fro = the overhead.

All contacts were found to be corroded which resulted in a invalid logic signal indicating the valve was shut. The pu=p logic sensed no suction path available and would not allow the pump to start.

Corrective Action:

The wires associated with the pu=p suction valvo positten for t'-

logic to LA RRR pu=p were re=aved and the pu=p was tested satis-factorily. A caution tag was placed on RHR LA pump control switch to ensure the operators are aware the suction valve logic input is re=oved.

Action to Prevent a Recurrence:

Instructors will be sent to the =aintenance fore =an giving guidance on protecting equip =ent, which has been left open to the environ =ent, while a portion of the equipment has been re=oved for repair.
