To inform the Comission of the receipt of a license application.
Discussion:
Enclosed for the information of the Comission are copies of an application for a license for.which Comission action will ultimately be necessary. Copies of the application have been placed in the Public Document Room.
Comissioners are requested to advise the staff of any particular issues or information which they can identify at this stage and which they wish included in the staff's analysis.

ASEA-ATOM Import License
Dear Sir:
We hereby make application for a license for the import of the following special nuclear materials:
Maximum Kilograms Uranium 92,281 Maximum Kilograms Uranium-235 3,046 Maximum Enrichment 3.30%
This material will be exported from Sweden by the following in the form of Zircaloy fuel rods:
ASEA-ATOM P. O. Box 53 S-721-04 Vasteras Sweden The fuel rods will be imported into the United States and delivered to the following:
Westinghouse Electric Corporation Nuclear Fuel Division Columbia, South Carolina 29250 Westinghouse will then incorporate the fuel rods into fuel assembli~es for eventual shipment to the Ringhals III and IV nuclear generating plants, located approximately forty (40) miles south of Goteborg. The use of these fuel assemblies at the Ringhals pl' nts will be as reload regions.

Mr. G. G. Oplinger February 1,1979 Page 2 The import of the fuel rods from ASEA-ATOM is scheduled to start September 1,1979 and be complete by February 1,1980.
It is requested the import license have an expiration date of May 1,1980.
The fuel rods will be exported either by air or ocean transport from Sweden and will be packaged inside Nuclear Regul'atory Commission approved RCC-1 or RCC-3 shipping containers.
The IAEA Certificate of Competent Authority No. is USA /5450/BF (Rev. 4).
