Thank you for your letter of January 3,1979, in response to our letter dated fiovember 27, 1978.
As a result of our review, we find that additional information, as discussed with your Mr. R. E. Topping during a telephone call on January 19, 1979, is needed.
Specifically, the corrective action taken by B-WCC to prevent recurrence of Ceviations A, B and C.
Deviation D was written against Criterion VI of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50
" Document Control" and paragraph fica-4134.6 of Section III to the ASME Code " Document Control" because there was no documentary evidence that the Calculational Procedure and Cesign Standard had been reviewed for adequacy and approved for' release.
Your letter stated that CCI's cor-rection action is upgrading the uncontrolled design guidelines (Calculat-ional Procedure and Cesign Standard) by converting them into Cesign Standards which are approved and revision controlled.
This is an accepted answer to the deviation but you did not state the date your corrective action would be complete. We agree with the statement in your letter that these new Design Standards which reflect 1978 ASME Code requirement may not apply to work orders accepted in 1973.
Our inspector will review only those current work orders to which the new Design Standard is applicable to verify its implementation.
