UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION EAA g}g g
WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555
..U.
- MAR 9 S 79 Docket flos. 50-514 and 50-515 Bonneville Power Administration ATTN: Mr. R. Eastvedt 1002 NE Holladay P. O. Box 3621 Portland, Oregon 97208
Dear W. Eastvedt:
We appreciated the opportunity to discuss with you on February 22, 1979 the ;1uclear Regulatory Commission's review of the alternatives to the proposed Pebble Springs site and your organization's contribution in areas related to transmission corridor evaluations. Our understanding is that you will examine eight sites from the viewpoints of reliability, stability and transmission distances and the effect on the Bonneville grid. The locations of seven of the sites have been supplied to you by letter from Argonne flational Laboratory (copy enclosed). To the list of seven sites should be added the Trojan Site (located at mile 72.5 of the Columbia River in Columbia County, Oregon).
Also, as a result of your recent conversation with R. P. Geckler, we have sent you a copy of the Pebble Springs Final Environmental Statement and have asked that PGE supply you with a copy of their Environmental Report.
Further, the on-line dates for Pebble Springs are now estimated to be March 1987 for Unit No.1 and April 1989 for Unit flo. 2.
Appendix E of the Seabrook supplemental testimony (NUREG-0501) can serve as an example of the documentation needed for our purposes. A copy of this document was provided to you during our meeting.
We are scheduling April 1, 1979 as a target date for a draft of the alternative site study and hope to have your input by then.
It is my understanding that costs associated with your participation in the study are the subject of discussion between our respective attorneys and that arrangements will be made in the near future regarding reimbursement.
Please let me or Dr. Geckler know if this schedule presents a difficulty or if my summary of the meeting is inaccurate.
Our tr'aphone numbers are (301) 492-8448 and 492-8429, respectively.
