- One year review schedule
- NRC accepts or rejects Topical Report (TR) - no opportunity to supplement
- More rigorous Acceptance Review
- Ensure missing information does not impact five key principles of risk-informed regulation
- NRC completes Draft Safety Evaluation (SE) and provides to vendor
- Documents Open Items (i.e., areas NRC is unable to make conclusion or find acceptable)
- No RAIs will be issued
- Vendor provides responses to Open Items
- If vendor responses are acceptable - NRC completes Final SE
- If vendor responses are not acceptable
- Open Items requiring minimal information to address; RAIs or conference call and documentation
- NRC finds TR unacceptable
