NARRATIVE SUD'ARY OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES PEACa EOTTOM UNITS 2 and 3 JANUARY 1979 PEACH BOTTOM STATICU UNIT 2 On January 8, load was reduced by 100 INe for a brief period to adjust the control rod pattern. On January 12, load was reduced to $$0 We to accommodate a control rod sequence excharge. Preconditionir4 necessitated additional power reductions and control rod adjustments prior to reaching full power en January 17 On January 19, load was reduced for a brief period to about 900 Mie due to heavy ice and trash loading n.t the outer screens. This condition permitted only single circulating water purp operation on the unit. On Januarf 29, load was reduced to 7h0 Ele to remove the 2C Condensate pump from service when the notor lower sight glass was unintentionally broken.

Following repairs, the pump was returned to service and the unit reached full power early on January 30.

UNIT 3 Unit 3 operated at apprcx' ctely 95% power until Januar/ 3, when a load reduc tion to 730 We was taken to remove the ' A' Feedwater Heater String frca cervice due to heater leaks. After the heaters were taken out of service, load was increased to 970 Ele and was limited by Reactor Feedpump suction pressure as a result of the unavailability of the heaters. The unit continued in operation until January 5, when a controlled shutdown was begun for a maintenance outage to repair heater leaks and an inoperable 2CIC steam isolatic1 valve. Maintenance work was completed and the unit returned to service on January t3 The unit increased power and reached rated power January 17. On January 19, Icad was reduced for a brief period to about 900 nie due to heavy ice and trash loadir at the outer screens. On January 28, a scran occurred on 3eactor Low Water Level. The cause was a blown fuse on the Master Ftedwater Controller. The unit was returned to service on January 29, and reached full load on Januar/ 31.
