Radioisotopes Licensing Branch Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety Ref: Program Code 22140 License Number SNM-682 Gentlemen:
I have recently received notice that our Special Nuclear Materials License expires on 3/31/79. This is to inform you that we do not wish to renew License SNM-682 at EGSG, Santa Barbara, California.
We have chosen to take this approach because:
As a " captive" contractor, we qualify for exempt status with regard a.
to-accountable nuclear materials.
b.
Of a conversation eith one of your field personnel who suggested that we wait untii your expiration notice arrived, then just not renew.
Attached find a letter from Ray D. Duncan, Assistant Manager for Administra-tion, Nevada Operations Office, with respect to our dropping the license.
I have completed NRC Form 314, Certificate of Disposition of Materials, which is also attached.
At present, as Radiation Safety Officer, and for several previous people who
{
have been involved in SS materials, we want to thank the NRC personnel for assistance given us during the li fetine of the NRC license.
From them we have received many helpful suggestions and they have never failed to respond promptly.
Very truly yours, 7
