.i DOCKET NO.70-824 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Comnission) has considered the renewal of Special Nuclear Material License SNM-778 for the continued operation of the Lynchburg Research ' Center at Lynchburg, Virginia.

The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety, has prepared an environmental impact appraisal for the proposed renewal of license SNM-778.

On the basis of this appraisal, the Commission has concluded that the environmental impact created by the proposed license renewal action would not be significant and does not warrant the preparation of an environnectal impact statement, and, accord-ingly,it has been determined that a negative declaration is appropriate.

i The environmental impact appraisal is available for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Roon at 1717 H Street, N. W.,

tlashington, D. C.

A copy may be obtained upon request addressed to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D. C.
