Additional Fire Protection System Information As indicated in Section 3.2.2 of reference (b) above, Yankee Atomic has been evaluating alternatives to increase the pumping capacity of the fire water supply.
We have evaluated the available alternatives, and propose the following:
Yankee Atomic will provide a diesel-driven. fire pump of sufficient capacity to meet the NRC concerns expressed in reference (b).
Sucticn to the pump will be from the fire pond to be constructed on the plant site.
Connection to the yard fire main will be at a point remote from the two motor-driven pump connections.
Installation'of the increased pumping capacity will be on a schedule commensurate with the installation of other major fire protection system modifications, with completion by the end of the 1980 refueling interval.
We trust that this conmitment responds adequately to your concerns.
We find that the schedule for submittal of information on SER paragraph 3 1.7, Switchgear Room Gas Suppression System, was inadvertently left out of reference (c) above.
