The following is submitted in response to your letter dated March 12, 1979, concerning IE Bulletin 79-03. The numbered responses _belcw corre-spond to the numbered action items contained in the Bulletin.

1. Four (4) spools manufactured by Youngstown Melding and Engineering Ccapany from stainless steel welded pipe (without filler material), ASME SA-312 Type 304, are used in the fabrication of piping subassemblics for Vogtie Nuclear Plant, Unit No.1.

2. These spools are being used in the fabrication of jacketed piping in the Containment Spray System (1206) and the Residual Heat Removal System (1205). The piping will be embedded in the concret?

containnent basemat and serves a s the suction line betweg the containment sumps and the containment spray pumps and res<idual heat removal pumps during recirculation. The spools are designed in accordance with the 1974 edition of the ASME Code,Section III, Class 2 (including Maenda through Sunmer 1975) and Code Case N-52.

3. The subject pipe spools have undergone 100% radiographic inspection of the ic,o* cudinal weld sean and have been accepted by the resident Bechtel quality inspector. Additionally, Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company has been removed from the fabricator's (Pullman Pcwer Products) approved bidder's list, g e.
