Docket Nos. STN 50-488, STN 50-489, STN 50-490

Dear Members of the Board:

Yesterday the Staff served its testimony on generic issues on all par'.ies.

Messrs. Calvin Moon, Michael Aycock and Lawrence Crocker will be available Wednesday morning, January 31, 1979, to sponsor and discuss the Staff's position on these generic issues.

The Board has expressed special interest in ATWS and we shall have Mr. Ashok Thadani available Thursday morning, February 1,1979, to respond to Board questions regarding ATWS.

If any of the Board members have a special interest in a particular generic issue, please let me know as soon as possible. As you can well appreciate, these generic issues cover a wide range of subject matter and many different experts on the Staff have worked on different issues.

We contemplate as the first order of business, after limited appearances, putting into evidence the Staff's alternative site analysis responding to questions thereon and then continuing Wednesday morning with generic issues.

Sincerely, 8$Y Charles A. Barth Counsel for NRC Staff cc:
