Based on information received by this office in the above references, the following represents our understanding of the status of IE Bulletin 79-14 inspections at the Yankee Nuclear Power Station (Yankee-Rowe).
1.
Verification of the as built configuration of safety-related systems is in progress in accessible areas, is approximately 95% complete, and will be completed by December 15, 1979.
2.
Verification of all required inspection elements, less pipe support details, has been completed in normally inaccessible areas.
Pipe support details will be verified in these areas prior to restart from your early summer 1980 refueling outage.
3.
No unacceptable deviations from original plant design requirements have been identified.
4.
Nonconformances from design requirements identified during the above inspec-tions will be evaluated promptly in accordance with the requirements of Paragraph 2 of the August 15, 1979 Supplement tc IE Bulletin 79-14. Where either phase of this evaluation shows that system operability is in jeopardy, a report will be submitted to this office within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> and the plant will be placed in cold shutdown within 7 days of identification of the nonconfer...we or as specified by Technical Specifications, whichever is less, until corrections / repairs are completed.
5.
All nonconformances identified which could affect the future seismic analysis will be reflected in revisions to as built drawings.

A final report of the inspection program, describing the results of the inspections, will be submitted to this office within 30 days after restart from your 1980 refueling outage. This report will contain the information specified in IE Bulletin 79-14, Paragraphs 3 and 4.
If our understaiding as discussed above differs from the actual situation and your planned actions, please notify us promptly.
