I'MY 2 21979 FCPF:EYS 70-36 Mr. K. Corbin, Chief Floodplain Management Service Corps of Engineers St. Louis District 210 N.12th Street St. Louis, Missouri 63103

Dear Mr. Corbin:

We are currently conducting an environmental impact assersment of the Combustion Engineering's Nuclear Fuel Fabrication Plant located at Hematite, Missouri in connection with the plant's proposed expansion.

Based on the report on " Navigability Status of Joachim Creek, Missouri -

1975, by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, St. Louis, Missouri", we are aware that the Joachim Creek may be subject to flooding.

Since the CE plant is located near the area, we would like to obtain the following information from the Corps of Engineers to allow us to conduct the environmental impact assessment:

1.

Is the CE facility located on the floodplain, i.e., subject to 100-year flood?

2.

If it is, what is the level of flooding and flow rate based on a 100-year flood?

Your cooperation in looking into this matter is appreciated.

Sincerely, bD-W. T. Crow, Section Leader Uranium Fuel Fabrication Section Fuel Processing & Fabrication Branch Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety 2131 303 7906270 O 3 7 C
