Jackson, Michigan 49201 e Area Code 517788-0550 February 23, 1979 Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation Att Mr Dennis L Ziemann, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No 2 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - SYSTEMATIC EVALUATION PROGRAM SEISMIC REVIEW Nuclear Regulatory Commission letter dated January 15, 1979, outlined actions recommended by the NRC staff for accomplishing the seismic review portion of the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP) for Big Rock Point. This included staff effort in the area of methodologies for determining realistic seismic input, and Consumers Power Company effort to provide a " documented seismic design basis." The NRC letter further stated that the staff expects to work with Censumers Power in our efforts, and requested that Consumers Power indicate whether this approach was acceptable.
Consumers Power Company intends to perform some analysis and review of the Big Rock Point Plant in this area.
Consumers Power welcomes the opportunity to work with the staff in this area. We look forward to meeting with the staff to discuss these efforts further and to establish a detailed program for accomplishing this review.
