References (a) and (b) provided information required for your review of our Pump and Valve Inservice Test Program. As requested by Reference (c), additional infomation regarding the program was provided by Ref-erence (d), which also indicated that some revision to our valve test program would be required. Enclosures 1 and 2 incorporate the necessary revision and provide a current sumary of our valve test programs for Units 1 and 2, respectively. Enclosures 1 and 2 supersede in their entirety Enclosure 2 to References (a) and (b).
Enclosures 3 and 4 list a number of containment isolation valves cat-egorized AE and AC which are maintained shut during plant operation.
The category AE valves are locked shut. The category AC valves are - \g nomally shut and would be more tightly seated by containment pressure go e in the unlikely event of a LOCA.Section XI, Articles IWV-3410 and b 9 IWV-3520, requires that these valves be exercised at three month in- G g(
tervals. However, since the function of these normally shut valves is 's to maintain containment isolation, and since they are not required to 4; 4

Exercising these valves at three month intervals would require considerable expenditure of time and manoower with no en-hancement of the plant's ability to mitigate the consequence; of an acci-dent. Also, if the valve should fail to close while being exercised, containment integrity would be degraded. Accordingly, we hereby seek relief from the requirements of Articles IWV-3410 and IWV-3520 to ex-ercise the Category AE and AC valves listed in Enclosures 3 and 4.
Certain additional P&ID drawings not provided by References (a) and (b) ce required for your review of our revised valve test program. Three copies of each of these drawings are included as Enclosure (5).
