MCDIFICATION 1 'IO APPLICATION AMENDMENT S-4, RECEIPT OF ARCHIVE SAMPIES With respect to activities authorized by SNM-1097 at the fuel fabrication plant in Wilmington, N. C., General Electric Conpany requested NPC authorization to receive on a one-time basis, special nuclear material (SNM) contained in GE archive samples without empletely verifying SNM content by measurements (reference 2).
On 11/28/78, you granted this authorization (reference 3) contingent upon answers to five questions being provided to you by General Electric on or before December 4, 1978. These answers are enclosed as an attachment to this letter.
Pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(d), General Electric requests that this information be withheld frcm public disclosure as this material identifies General Electric procedures for safeguardmg licensed special nuclear material.
General Electric personnel would be pleased to discuss this matter further with you and your staff as you may deem necessary.
