Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. J. L. Belanger,
J. F. Schaper and Ms. G. M. Christoffer of this office, on
April 16-20, 1979, of activities at Quad-Cities Nuclear Power
Station, Units 1 and 2, authori::ed by NRC Operating Licenses
No. DPR-29 and No. DPR-30 and to the discussion of our findings
with Mr. N. Kalivianakis and other members of your staff at
the conclusion of the inspection.
The encle:ca copy of our inspection report identifies areas
examined during the inspection. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures
and representative records, observations, and interviews with
personnel.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared
to be in noncompliance with NRC requirements, as described
in the enclosed Appendix A.
The inspection showed that
action had been taken to correct the identified noncompliance
and to prevent recurrence. Consequently, no reply to this
noncompliance is required and we have no further questions
regarding this natter at this time.
Areas examined during the inspection concern a subject matter
which is exempt from disclecure according to Section 2.790 of
the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal
Regulations. Consequently, our report of this inspection will
not be placed in the Public Document Room.
