This office has received a copy of your April 16, 1979 request which you filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation for review and approval.
The submittal included a proposed pump and valve testing program for Browns Ferry Units 1 and 2 (Facility Licenses DPR-33 and DPR-52) and requested relief from the testing requirements of Section XI of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for the facilities.
Your request was not accompanied by approval fees as prescribed by Section 170.22 of 10 CFR 170.
Requests for approvals such as that identified above should be classified in the same manner as applications for license amendments in Section 170.22.
Section 170.12(c) requires that your company provide a proposed determination of the amendment (approval) class, state the basis therefor, and submit the fee or fees with ycur application for the approval or amendment.
We have determined from our preliminary review that tns requested action falls in fee Class III ($4,000) for Browns Ferry 1 and Class I for Browns Ferry 2 because the relief requested involves consideration of a single safety issue and a duplicate consideration.
You should promptly forward
$4,400 to this office.
If after the final evaluation of your application is completed it is determined that it was incorrectly classified, you will be refunded any overpayment or billed for any additional amount due.
