Dear Sir:

On February 5,1979, a report was sutcitted under provisions of 10 CFP.

50.55(e) corcernint the hycreulic transient at the vcirculatien Stray Coolers which vould cccur as a result of startin; the ccirculation Snray Fucps. The o

structural capatilities cf the Recirculation Snray Coolers had not been speci-fictlly analyzec fcr this hydraulic transient.

On March 2, 1970, an interim report u s filed on this subject. !!e in-dicated in this rocrt that the r.,anufacturer cf the coolers, Joscoh Cat Corporation, was grfcn;in~ a ccnplete analysis of the structurel capabilities of the Unit 2 Recirculation Spray Coolers for the hydraulic transient which Wuld occur with the start-up cf the Recirculaticn Spray Pumps.

The analysis of the capabilities of thc 'ecirculaticn Soray Coolers has now beca conpletec.

The design of thusu ccoltrs his been fcund to I.c adequate to withstand the water-hamer effect associatcd uit" the purp start-up in con-juncticn with tFC Risnic and ther*ul loads. These ccolers are therefore cap-able of perforaing their design function af ter expcricncing the start-up tran-sient.

' e considg this to be the final report on this natter undar orovisions o f IL C r, < 2 0. m e ).
