Dear Mr. Seidle:

On January 26, 1979, we verbally informed your Mr. W. A. Crossman of apparent weld metal defects in the shop weld between the Unit No.1 reactor pressure vessel hot leg nozzle "C" and its safe end. We considered this "potentially" reportable under 10 CFR 50.55(e). We submitted an interim response logged TXX-2958 dated February 19, 1979.

We are continuing our investigation and evaluation and will notify you as soon as we have reached a conclusion.
