NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE JANUARY 1980 At the onset of the January reporting period, power generation continued at 85% Reactor Rated Thermal Power (39 MWe-Net).
This operating power level has been scheduled to extend core life to stretch optimum production until refueling becomes necessary.
This power level was maintained throughout the reporting period.
During the latter part of the month DPC requested interim relief from LACBWR Technical Specifications which govern the maximum average fuel exposure during this cycle (No. 6).
With the ex-pectation that extended operation would be authorized, the refuel-ing outage formerly scheduled for early February, 1980, would be postponed at least two months.
The peripheral shroud which was removed from the reactor during the 1979 refueling outage and stored temporarily in the Fuel Element Storage Well was cut into small pieces for removal and disposal.
Significant maintenance items performed during the January 1980 reporting period are indicated on the attached Instrument and Electrical Maintenance and Mechanical Maintenance listings.
