The construction permit for Grand Gulf liuclear Station Unit flo. 2 requires you to follow the Environmental Protection Program Respecting Construction of Grand Gulf fluclear Station, Units 1 and 2, as set out in Staff Exhibit 2-A in the evidentiary hearing on environmental matters conducted by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board February 19-21, 1974.

Item 6.5 of the Environmental Protection Program specifies that, prior to construction of transmission lines, the tran:.aission-line corridors will be inspected to determine the existence of unique or unusual features located within the construction rights-of-way.

The enclosed letter from the State ilistoric Preservation Officer (S!!P0) recor::nends a cultural resources survey of the Ray Braswell Transmission Line corridor, which we understand is being planned because of Unit 2.

Since 36 CFR 000.l(a)(2) requires us to follow the recommendations of the Slip 0 in this matter, we are requesting that you conduct the recommended survey prior to construction of the Ray Braswell Transmission Line. Survey results should be presented to me. This survey should be coordinated with the SHP0 to insure that he finds the survey adequate.

Sincerely, Oriz!rral signed t:y Rennfd L Daltsrd Ronald L. Dallard, Chief Environmental Projects Branch flo. 1 Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis
